Introducing the Cap ‘M’ Audio DC Power Supply
The Cap ‘M’ Audio DC Power Supply is a precision-engineered power solution developed specifically for high-end audio applications. At its core are four ultra-low-noise voltage-regulation stages, carefully selected and tuned for their specific functions within the design.
The first stage is deliberately designed without fast direct feedback around the main output regulation path. Instead, the focus is on providing a clean, stable and low-impedance source while minimizing the introduction of additional noise.
First Stage
The first stage uses an ultra-low-noise voltage reference together with carefully controlled thermal behaviour. As current demand increases, the output voltage naturally tends to decrease. At the same time, the resulting change in regulator temperature partially compensates for this voltage drop.
The circuit is therefore thermally optimized for its intended operating range. Rather than continuously correcting the output through a fast feedback loop, this stage responds more gradually and provides a stable, low-noise foundation for the regulation stages that follow.
End Stages
The end stages of the Cap ‘M’ Audio power supply use two dedicated ultra-low-noise regulation stages, each optimized for its respective output.
Here, a highly filtered feedback path is used to compare the regulated output with its reference voltage. This allows the final regulators to respond rapidly to changes in load while maintaining highly precise voltage regulation and an exceptionally low noise floor.
Availability
The Cap ‘M’ Audio Power Supply is available with output voltages ranging from 1.2 V to 24 V DC, with either two 1.5 A outputs or a single 3 A output. Depending on the required output voltage, one of three optimized regulator configurations is used. Each configuration is selected and tuned for ultra-low-noise operation within its intended voltage and current range.
Power Rating
Power supplies up to 15 V DC are equipped with a 60 VA transformer. Versions from 16 V to 24 V DC use an 80 VA audio-grade transformer. For applications where maximum transformer performance is required, an 80 VA supreme-grade transformer is also available, although this requires a larger enclosure.
