The Idea
The NorBit was created to address the fundamental challenges in digital-to-analog conversion, with the goal of matching and even surpassing the world’s leading digital solutions. Digital signals come in various forms, such as Ethernet, USB, I2S, and SPDIF, and converting them to analog inevitably affects the resulting analog signal—most notably, the music itself.
Beyond the complexities of digital protocols, factors such as saturation, vibration, and noise play a significant role. Ethernet, in particular, is prone to saturation and vibration, which can degrade signal integrity, while noise can accompany digital signals into the system. These elements collectively influence the digital-to-analog conversion process and can compromise sound quality.
The NorBit addresses these issues by normalizing the bits and dramatically reducing their negative impact. The NorBit is compatible with standard digital sources such as computers and routers, delivering the purest possible reproduction of the original sound.
Power Section
The NorBit’s power section is built on the same foundation as the Cap ‘M’ Audio power supply. This integrated power section ensures that the NorBit delivers exceptionally clean and stable power to support its high-fidelity performance. Advanced Filtering
The NorBit incorporates a sophisticated triple-filter section, precisely optimized to reduce noise for each type of port. The Internet port features strong filtering, the Streamer port uses medium filtering, and the DAC port uses a more relaxed, mild filter for less aggressive noise reduction. This tailored approach optimizes noise suppression for each specific use case.
Using a combination of ferrite and metal-powder cores, the filters progressively smooth the signal, resulting in a cleaner and more accurate output at every stage. After extensive testing with a wide range of components, we developed an optimized filtering solution for each port type. This advanced filtering system, together with the integrated Cap ‘M’ Audio power section, ensures that the NorBit delivers high-performance network streaming.
Ethernet Cabling
The NorBit is designed to work seamlessly with standard Ethernet cabling. Its signal purity significantly reduces the need for high-grade Ethernet cables. Premium Ethernet cables may still offer subtle benefits, particularly in maintaining signal neutrality, but their influence is reduced because the system already starts from an optimized baseline.
Network Streamers
The NorBit is designed to work seamlessly with standard computer-based streamers. The influence of high-grade streamers is reduced because the system already starts from a high-performance baseline. However, using a high-grade streamer as an endpoint remains an excellent option for further optimizing the system.
